We hope you will spare
the time to help us with this research: the information you provide
here will help two major projects (ARKive and LTSN Bioscience ImageBank)
understand how to better support lecturers and their students by
providing access to high quality multimedia resources. The questionnaire
will take approx. 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
The
information will be treated in confidence and will only be used
directly to support ARKive and the LTSN Bioscience ImageBank projects.
However the key findings will be shared with the wider communities
of organisations working to support the use of multimedia by University
and College lecturers.
About
ARKive: ARKive is a Web accessible, digital library of films,
photographs, audio, basic textual information and other data related
to species and habitats in our natural world (http://www.wildscreen.org.uk/arkive).
It has the support of many UK and global conservation organisations,
the wildlife media industry and many individuals. Thus far ARKive
has funding of £2.1M from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF)
and UK New Opportunities Fund (NOF). These grants will fund the
development of the 'British chapter' of ARKive covering , 1000 UK
species and the start of the 'globally endangered species chapter'
of 500 species.
About
the LTSN Centre for Bioscience ImageBank Project: The LTSN Bioscience
ImageBank feasibility study which is co-funded by the LTSN (Learning
and Teaching Support netwok) JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee)
/ DNER (Distributed National Electronic Resource) aims to identify
the real needs of the community with respect to image use and availability.
It is expected that the information gathered will lead to the development
of a full ImageBank, which will consist of freely available images
contributed by academics, publishers and research organisations
rights cleared for educational purposes, accessible through the
LTSN for Bioscience web site (http://bio.ltsn.ac.uk/)
